Ingredients

Ice Cream Base:

  1. 3 ½ cups cream base (heavy cream + whole milk)
  2. ¾ cup sugar
  3. 1 tsp vanilla extract
  4. ¼ tsp salt

Chocolate Chips:

  1. 4 oz dark or semi-sweet chocolate (high-quality, chopped)
  2. 1 Tbsp coconut oil or butter (optional, for smoother texture)

Instructions

Prepare the Ice Cream Base:

  1. In a mixing bowl, whisk together the cream base, sugar, vanilla extract, and salt until the sugar is dissolved.
  2. Transfer the mixture to the refrigerator and chill for at least 4 hours or overnight for the best texture.

Melt & Drizzle the Chocolate:

  1. In a heatproof bowl, melt the chopped chocolate and coconut oil (if using) over a double boiler or in short bursts in the microwave. Stir until smooth.
  2. Let the melted chocolate cool slightly but remain pourable.

Churn & Add the Chocolate Chips:

  1. Pour the chilled ice cream base into your ice cream maker and churn according to the manufacturer’s instructions.
  2. Once the ice cream reaches a soft-serve consistency, drizzle in the melted chocolate while the machine is still running.
  3. The chocolate will harden upon contact, creating chocolate flakes (stracciatella-style) throughout the ice cream.

Freeze & Enjoy:

  1. Transfer the churned ice cream to a container and freeze for 6–8 hours or overnight until firm.
  2. Scoop and serve in a cone, bowl, or topped with extra chocolate chips for an extra indulgent treat!
